Salon Luba

Identity, Collateral, Video

Salon Luba is a full-service luxury salon located at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, NJ.

Identity

Named in part after the Salon principal Luda Karasik, the aim was to create a logo that radiated charm, sophistication and femininity. Through logo workings (seen above), we decided on a looping, swooping “L”. We felt that it captured the concept of the movement of hair, while simultaneously retaining the sophistication of the Salon Luba interior. When it came to color, we used an elegant yet contemporary silver grey with a pop of warm orange as a highlight color.

As is the case at most salons, menus are put through their paces — whether they’re taken home and pinned on a notice board or handed out in the salon, they need to be durable. In keeping with Salon Luba’s interior, we kept the menu design simple and the paper stock silky smooth (and waterproof). Not to be outdone by their luxury brand neighbors, Salon Luba requested carry-home bags that would also translate the luxury ethos behind the brand. The result? Simple white bags with the Salon Luba logo screen printed in grey with an accent pop of orange tissue paper.

Salon Luba recently styled the hair at the annual CCFA (Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America) event. SKAGGS collaborated with Brooke Altman to capture the backstage buzz at the Waldorf-Astoria with this fast-paced video and behind-the-scenes photoshoot.
