ICFF 2010: Amy’s Booth!
Posted by nicole on May 18, 2010 at 8:56am

Since we finished Amy Helfand's portfolio website in the nick of time for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Elspeth and I decided to pop over to the Jacob Javits Center and take a look at her artwork booth.

It was cool to see the rugs up close–we had been working with Amy's images in digital format for a couple of…

Tomorrow’s Design Stars Visit SKAGGS
Posted by SKAGGS on March 22, 2010 at 10:27am

This week SKAGGS played host to some of Syracuse University’s most talented young artists and designers.
The students came by to soak up a little of our studio atmosphere and to hear about how a typical design project rolls out. With Sam’s unparalleled expertise and Jonina’s teaching experience, we were happy to oblige! Best of all, we were delighted to receive leave-behind pieces from each student which…

A Bouquet of Full-Bodied Design
Posted by SKAGGS on December 15, 2009 at 1:46pm

There’s no stopping photographer Kfir Ziv’s unmistakeable talent and ability to constantly change the game.
Kfir approached us in July to design the labels for his very own signature wine, which he created with New York’s famous City Winery. Kfir named the wine after his newborn son, Kai. Inspired by one of Kfir’s photographs, SKAGGS worked with Kfir to create the photograph used on the label.…

Driving Sustainability ‘09: A Big Success
Posted by Bradley Skaggs on October 16, 2009 at 12:11pm

Icelandic President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson
The Driving Sustainability Conference is produced by FTO, short for Future Energy or Framtidarorka in Icelandic. Iceland is unique in the sense that the country’s usage of energy is already 80% sustainable. Removing fossil fuel vehicles from the roads would make Iceland’s energy usage 98% sustainable and therefore the most sustainable country in the world. The conference was born out of that dream and with 3…

New Restyle for SKAGGS Headquarters
Posted by SKAGGS on October 12, 2009 at 12:21pm
A fresh look for SKAGGS H.Q.
Brrr, a change in the weather! Time for a brand new restyle for SKAGGS Headquarters.
As the oldest commercial area of Manhattan, a lot of history goes into our bastion of design knowledge in TriBeCa. SKAGGS H.Q. is the only two-story building in the neighborhood, holding out against the giant AT&T Building skyscraper and surrounded by classic TriBeCa apartment buildings. Ours is a highly unusual style of…

Fall is Coming (Baked Goods are too.)
Posted by nicole on September 17, 2009 at 12:55pm

Around here we have all been enjoying the nice fall-like weather and the break from extreme summer heat. I don’t know about anyone else but when fall and winter roll around there is only one thing that I want to do and that is cook.
During fall especially I love to bake and last week I made a special office treat for everyone. I made Regina Cookies, which are an Italian…

When I found out that we were taking a last minute business trip to the 300k population filled land of Fire and Ice, I was truly blown away. In all honesty the only thing I knew about Iceland were Vikings, the eternal daylight in the summer, the everlasting darkness in the winter and of course the cold. We touched down in Reykjavik…

It was an honor to be asked by the University of Iceland to teach a class on marketing and communications with an emphasis on developing a grassroots campaign. My goal was to show my students the foundations of a successful campaign, and how marketing must be targeted to reach each generation. As the class learned, there’s a big difference between a Baby Boomer audience and Generation X —…

If, like us, you’re addicted to Hell’s Kitchen, Iron Chef, Top Chef, and you watch the Food Network religiously (we understand), then we’ve got a treat in store: a grilled chicken recipe by SKAGGS’ very own Joe Guzman. We’ve had so many requests for this during cookout season that we decided it deserves its very own one-off feature. Enjoy!

Serves a…

Vanity Beauty Lounge — Pure Indulgence
Posted by SKAGGS on June 27, 2008 at 12:00pm

With the “Three ‘S’s” in mind (Style, Sophistication and Seduction) SKAGGS created a complete one-of-a-kind brand identity and attitude for Vanity Beauty Lounge in San Francisco, and brought that certain va-va-voom to the subsequent collateral and retail interior.

“For the logo, we started off by taking a serif typeface—Bodoni—then we refined the letters to reflect the Vanity Beauty…

To celebrate springtime (and a certain someone’s birthday) the SKAGGS HQ in New York was host to an evening of celebrating, socializing and… painting!
That’s right: among all the gifts, dancing and champagne (oh, the champagne…) we couldn’t help but get creative with the windows again, and this time it was a collaboration. Check out photos of the evening and the new look for the building!
