Reykjavik Goes Green — Thanks to DS
Posted by Jonina on November 11, 2009 at 3:51pm

Late last month, the Reykjavik City Environment and Transport Council agreed to establish a task force to increase the presence of electric cars and charging stations in Iceland’s capital. Their decision to shift toward an electricity-based model was born out of the 2008 Driving Sustainability Conference in Reykjavik, where pioneers in the movement to achieve environmentally sustainable transportation decided that electricity proved more efficient than hydrogen. The recent 2009 Conference saw…

Driving Sustainability ‘09: A Big Success
Posted by Bradley Skaggs on October 16, 2009 at 12:11pm

Icelandic President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson
The Driving Sustainability Conference is produced by FTO, short for Future Energy or Framtidarorka in Icelandic. Iceland is unique in the sense that the country’s usage of energy is already 80% sustainable. Removing fossil fuel vehicles from the roads would make Iceland’s energy usage 98% sustainable and therefore the most sustainable country in the world. The conference was born out of that dream and with 3…

What to do About Detroit
Posted by Bradley Skaggs on November 21, 2008 at 12:32pm

There has been a lot of talk about this and while we try to keep politics out of our blog, occasionally we do drift into political issues. The “Silver Bullet”
Posted by Bradley Skaggs on March 17, 2007 at 10:54am

“The U.S. consumes 21 million barrels of oil a day, far more than No. 2 China (which consumes 6.9 million barrels a day) and No. 3 Japan (at 5.4 million)”, said Neel Kashkari, senior advisor to Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson. [More…]
As Joseph J. Romm points out in his excellent posting, the hybrid card is the “silver bullet” solution to rising gas prices since it not only addresses…

Thank You Al Gore

He may not be the president (like he should have been) but Al Gore is the catalyst for bringing attention to global Climate Change. For this, I am deeply appreciative. It was great to see Al Gore win an Oscar An Inconvenient Truth and kudos to The Academy for seeing the power and message in Gore’s movie. For those of you have not seen the movie or read the book, the…
